Description: We will dive into the culture of street art! The class will learn how to use a spray can using techniques to create clean lines, spray effects, and layout. The class will be introduced to different tools and materials that can be used to create new art work. As the class progresses, we will turn our designs into stickers and prints to show how your art can be made into a tangible product.

Graphite Drawing with Ron Grote
Time: 9:00am – 11:30am

Description: This graphite drawing class places emphasis on drawing photorealistic images utilizing graded graphite pencils.
Working from reference material, usually photographs, the student will learn how to use graphite pencils and other tools to record the effects of light and shadow to create forms, highlights and cast shadows while blending them into images having realistic 3-D appearances. Class discussions will include how to break down images into basic shapes, strategies to transfer images, observing detail, pencil layering and developing contrast. Each student is treated individually and progresses at their own pace. The class is open to all levels–beginner to the more experienced.

Colored Pencil Drawing With Ron Grote

Description: Colored Pencil Art class is aimed at anyone wanting to create art using colored pencil as their media. Participants will begin with step-by step projects that will utilize Prisma color Premier colored pencils. Suggested Jump Start kits available from AnnKullberg.com will be used for initial projects to expose
students to different techniques while having step-by-step instructions and examples at hand. In addition to using “white” papers, students will have the opportunity to create colored pencil drawings on colored paper and black paper.
Upon completion of initial step by step exercises, students may continue using step-by-step material or create original colored pencil drawings from the student’s own references while receiving additional assistance.

Although the class is open to beginner and intermediate level artists, it is recommended that the student has graphite drawing and shading experience. Since each student is treated individually, each will progress at their own pace. Accordingly, there is no set amount of time to complete the lessons.

Cartooning with Alejandro

Description: Meletha Everett is one of the original art instructors from when Center Place first opened. Meletha has a vast knowledge of water colors and loves sharing her knowledge with her students. Meletha’s class is a careful combination of theory and practice, designed to be easy to follow and progressive so that you slowly master the skills and techniques to become a better watercolor artist. Learning the right things and doing the right actions is the key to making progress. And progress is the greatest form of motivation.
